2011 BIFM Sustainability in FM report

The Annual BIFM Sustainability in FM report for 2011 highlights key trends and sustainability issues influencing how facilities managers deliver sustainable FM.  The 2011 survey report offers readers a clear insight into the key sustainability issues influencing facilities managers in their drive towards making sustainable FM a reality for now.  The highlights include: 

• 91% respondents believe their organisation now have sustainability policies in place
• Corporate image (98%) is a key driver for such policies (was 59% in 2009)
• 90% state that carbon footprint is a key issue in sustainability policies (was 48% in 2009)

Key recommendations include: Facilities managers need to be engaged earlier in the sustainability process.  Currently they are managing the consequences rather than being involved in the planning process.  Facilities managers frequently update their knowledge and expertise in sustainability issues.
